How to Look Great in Photos
Picture perfect ready for a night out…
You dressed nice for a night out. Your miniskirt sparkles, your makeup is impeccable and your updo is higher than heaven.
You’d love to immortalize the look, but when your friend whips out their camera, you go cold, maybe even running away to avoid the click of the shutter.
If this sounds like you, it’s time for some photogenic lessons, brought to you by Salon Helena.
Lookin’ Hot!
Photogenic people weren’t born—they were made! A little bit of experience seeing what works and what doesn’t in front of a camera goes a long way. Without further ado, our five best tips to look great in photos:
Clean Up Nicely. Nice clothes, a haircut and makeup will make you photo shoot ready! Check to make sure your clothes, hair and makeup are where they are supposed to be by checking in a mirror before the camera starts flashing.
Practice Good Posture. Don’t slump forward, or have your chin tilted downward, which can give you a double chin. Instead, stand up straight and with your shoulders slid comfortably to your back.
Strike a Pose. The photogenic person’s secret? Practice! Don’t be afraid to practice a few poses in the mirror. You might feel a little silly, but it’ll payoff when you feel more comfortable in front of the camera.
Hold Your Head Right. Move your face forward slightly and tilt your chin down. Put your tongue behind your teeth to relax your face before you smile. Now think happy thoughts and say ‘cheese’!
Think About Lighting. The best time of day to be photographed is sunset, when the light casts a warm glow on your skin. Downward lighting is your enemy! If you’re being photographed in downward lighting, lift your head to prevent shadows from casting circles under your eyes.
Remember also that the camera tends to exaggerate, so don’t go to heavy on the makeup or you’ll end up looking harsh. And don’t forget to upload your pics on Facebook!
