The Right Brush
Brushing your hair on a daily basis is the only right way to keep your hair healthy and well-groomed. By brushing your hair, you encourage the scalp to distribute its natural oils and maintain its inherent shine.
However, using the wrong brush could easily lead to coarse, damaged hair follicles that leave you with a dull and ragged appearance.
Hairbrushes are made in a thousand different styles, designs and materials. Quality is important. Knowing which brush type is right for your particular hair type will make a real difference in the health of your scalp and hair in the future. Below are a few types of hair brushes to consider:
1. Vent Hair Brush: This particular brush is made with a hole in the center of the base; this provides air ventilation for a quicker blow drying session after washes. In addition, vent hair brushes are great for detangling hair and adding volume to your hair. These brushes work great for any hair style.
2. Paddle Hair Brush: These brushes are ideal for hair that is of medium to longer length, and they are really good for smoothing hair out while also lengthening it. Paddle hair brushes do not provide hair with volume, however. Instead, these brushes encourage the hair follicles to lie flat against the scalp.
3. Round Hair Brush: Typically, these are used to provide hair with stronger definition in the curls. If you have shorter hair, your best bet would be to get a smaller brush that has strategic curl pieces. If you have longer hair, a bigger round hair brush can be used to straighten hair or curl the ends.
4. Cushion Hair Brush: This brush type is generally used on medium to long hair. It is used to massage the scalp, which brings out natural oils in the hair to provide a strong, luxurious shine. The cushion hair brush is designed to absorb any shock that may occur from brushing tangled hair.
